I realize that I haven't posted very many close up screenshots of Penfold (my brother's character) so I'll put this up to give you an idea of how he's doing. Doesn't he look like a cute little teddy bear? Hopefully we can do Genkai 3, complete AF3 and maybe rank 6 sometime soon.
I haven't been doing so bad merit wise out of this deal. Every time I help him with his AF or when I level sync with him, I'm always there getting merits. :) I was actually helping Penfold farm a Beadeaux coffer key for his AF body. God it took ages to drop and he died twice doing 2 farming sessions there but he finally got it.
I have given my BLM merits a break for a little while in favour of boosting something that would help some of my melee based jobs.
As well as getting critical hit rate up to level 4, I've finally unlocked Chivalry for my PLD and I think that's where the rest of my merits will be going from now on.
This was probably one the few times I actually go to South Sandy [S] but I was there recently to finish off the latest WOTG missions and quest story lines when I found this odd thing floating around above my head. I thought I was imagining it at first till I got up close to it and found that I could walk right below it. I should have frapsed it and posted it on youtube but I didn't think to do it at the time.
Speaking of WOTG storyline, here's some screenshots!
I can't help but look at the stance my character is in on this picture and think, "I don't look very enthusiastic, do I?"
"Hmmm" /yes here, /no there" type of thing?
Anyway, moving on..
I guess if I was a guy, I'd be complaining that half of her butt is cut off but since I am female, I tend to think how fantastic I look in PLD AF. :DDDD
This was taken only a few days after the December update and I was warned that it was difficult to claim the sapplings that dropped this item needed for the mission. Since I am a lvl75 BST, I felt that a little widescan and tracking was in order to locate the mobs faster which actually paid off. Even without TH, this thing dropped on the second mob I claimed.
Some odd stuff happend during December 2008 and this was one of them. I finally laid to rest a very old grudge against Guivre in Kuftal Tunnel. This was the very first time I killed the evil wyvern but I also got to take it's skull home as a trophy!
It was a costly battle and took 3 attempts to get the correct jobs and camp to be able to kill it safely but we did it.
Crab aggro was the initial problem and there was only one healer which was me at the start of our first try but Zark switched from NIN to WHM and it went a little better. The 2nd try we had too much robber crab aggro and it went badly.
The 3rd try was flawless! We only did the fight for a laugh and maybe some of us were bored and didn't have anything else to do.
December 31st 2008 brought me 2 nice suprises for my Birthday! (This was one of them.)
Yeah you got it, New years eve is my Bday and I am 21... again ;)
Funny enough I started up cooking on this character around 2005 and it took about 2 weeks to go from 1-95, then it just kind of went as slow as Despot can be while being kited around Sky with gravity and bind stuck on him.
Then it took about 2 months of cooking sweet rice cakes to get to 99 and it's been stuck ever since.
In the time between now and then I got all my chef items from guild and didn't go back to it until recently spending around 200-400k a time on dragon meat so I could craft some red currys which was an even more slower process then making sweet rice cakes, lol.
I guess it seems that way because of the cost involved and you do lose gil on this synth and it's very slow to sell. ><
I was almost getting bored with THF but I stuck it out till 70 so I could access leave when I subbed BST.
I've levelled this job mostly in Campaign battle and when I have got an actual party, it's been in level sync so skills like marksmanship and dagger had became uncapped, desperately needed capping. More to the dismay of my poor fellow LS friends who I kept giving them constant updates on my skill levels, lol.
I can see myself actually soloing the rest of the way to 75 so I can stay on top of my skill caps.
Hopefully that way, I won't need to do it later and just go on to fight Maat for the 10th time and win!
I really can't honestly see myself playing this role outside of farming coffer keys or helping with TH for friends because I found it really hard to get a party on THF so I feel that I haven't had enough practice at playing the role to it's fullest in a party.
It is the down side to level sync and campaign battle but I guess I wouldn't have it any other way because I see more benefits then draw backs.
Oh yes! Getting to 72 on my Bday was the 2nd suprise I was on about earlier!
I just noticed that I haven't placed any screenshots of any tells on any of my previous posts so as this is a special 1st of January post just for anyone who can be bored enough to read it.
I will just put something up here which could win the most idiotic tell awards in the belly laugh catagory of FFXI.
You know the type of tell I mean right? A moronic exange of words between 2 people that you should probably ignore but it always sticks in the back of your mind for ages?

In FFXI, you don't have fan mail, you get fan tells!
I have been contacted in game many times about some of my own videos but I guess this was one of the nicest complements I have received about Geoffrey and his editing skills on youtube. :)
On Christmas Eve, the Astral Candy-glowing orb thingy was stolen from Al Zahbi by the mamools.
Maurauc invited me to come and help get it back...
It was a total failure but was pretty funny. I think next time I would have to insist on a set up which can kite one NM and one lesser NM while the rest zerg the last mob asap. It's pretty much like COP 2-5 I think because they are all resistant to sleep.
Once you fail the BCNM, you got to farm all the correct keys and key item to regain access once more so I just left after we got raised outside. Thankfully another group went in at some point after us and won.

I I really pulled something special out of the hat for this lot! (Yes pun was totally intended!)
I I took this picture after Chillywilly (see in picture) said I he didn't fancy me as a PLD (more or less said I looked butch) so I took this picture to kind of prove him wrong.
